STREET STOCK RULES

(No longer any Super Stocks)

MODELS:  All cars must be 1960 or newer, front engine, V-8 equipped, rear wheel drive, stock production passenger car sedan.  NO convertibles, pickups, station wagons, SUV’s, jeeps, etc, allowed.  Minimum wheelbase 101 inches and must be stock for year make and model being used.

BODIES:  Must be neat, professional appearing at all times.  Any OEM stock steel body or aftermarket stock appearing body may be used.  Ford to Ford, Chevy to Chevy, etc.  Any fabricated body part must be stock appearing and is subject to tech approval.  May cut hole in hood for air cleaner, maximum one inch larger than filter.  No hood scoops.  Rub rails allowed maximum 1 inch x 2 inch tight against body.   Aftermarket floorpan OK. Front, rear and side firewalls must be constructed of minimum 20 gauge steel with no holes.  Rear of car must have a minimum six inch cover across back.  Rear spoiler face not to exceed 6 ½ inches tall, any angle may be used, not to hang past rear bumper.  Spoiler support blades 6 ½ inches max tall, 14 inches max long.

BUMPERS:  Must have front and rear bumpers.  OEM bumpers OK but must be fastened securely with straps on ends to prevent hooking.  Tube type bumpers are allowed but must be covered in the front by a plastic nosepiece.  Front and rear bumpers, Single 2 inch .095 max and must be bent 90 degrees on ends.  Bumpers should be 18 - 20 inches from ground.

FRAMES:  Stock frame must be used with stock front lower control arm mounts, steering mounts, rear leaf spring mounts or lower four link mounts.  Frame width must remain stock.  Wheelbase must remain stock, plus or minus ½ inch.  Must match body and engine.

FRONT SUSPENSION:  Stock lower control arms must be used.  Stock spindles must be used.  Stock hubs must be used but rotors may be modified.  Any stock or tubular upper control arms OK.  Upper control arm mounts may be relocated.  Weight jacks allowed (with weight penalty), No hydraulic, electric or air adjusters.  Adjustable spring spacers with shock in stock position OK (no penalty).  Any coil spring, five inch minimum outside diameter allowed.  Tie rod or heim end shocks allowed (with weight penalty).  No coil over shocks.  No reservoir shocks.  No air/nitrogen adjustable shocks.  Shock location open, one shock per wheel.  NO aluminum parts.

REAR SUSPENSION: Three types will be permitted. 

(1)   leaf - stock front mounts, single hole without adjustments.  Any lowering blocks allowed.  Any rear mount allowed. Any multi-leaf spring allowed.  No panhard bars.

(2)   Four bar -  stock frame mounts.  No panhard bars.  Stock length, non adjustable lower links.  Upper links can be adjustable, solid type only.  Five inch minimum diameter spring.

(3)   Three bar – stock lower frame mounts.  Stock length, solid type, non adjustable lower links.  Uses a panhard bar.  Upper link can be adjustable but cannot be longer than lower links.  Upper link cannot have a spring.  Cannot use a fifth shock.  Five inch minimum spring diameter. 

No coil over shocks.  No fifth shocks.  No reservoir shocks.  No air/nitrogen adjustable shocks.  Weight jacks allowed (with weight penalty), No hydraulic, electric or air adjusters. Tie rod or heim end shocks allowed (with weight penalty). Shock location open, one shock per wheel.  One spring per wheel.  NO aluminum parts.

STEERING:  Stock steering box and linkage in stock location.  Aftermarket steering shaft allowed.  Steering quickner allowed.  Steering wheel must have quick release.

BRAKES:  Any master cylinders or pedals allowed.  Must have three working brakes at all times, this means when you hit the brakes, three wheels lock up and slide.  Brake bias allowed.  Brakes are open but NO aluminum parts except masters and pedals are allowed. 

ROLL CAGE:  A full perimeter roll cage is required. There must be a minimum of three (3) driver side bars in the left door area. Two (2) bars must extend from the top of roll cage to the rear of the frame rails. One (1)

bar must extend from the left side to right side of rear roll cage at floor

pan level for seat belt attachment. One (1) diagonal bar is required

across the rear of roll cage from top to bottom. One (1) bar must be

installed from left side of roll bar to center part of cross bar at shoulder

level for shoulder harness attachment. Additional roll bars may be

added. Where roll bars are attached to the floor pan, must have steel

mounting plates under and over floor pan. Plates must be a minimum

of 4” x 6” x .125 steel. Single pipe front loop may be installed at

radiator top tank level. Radiator protection bar and supports may be

added. Subject to technical inspection and approval. All radiator

protection bars must be behind the bumper and under front nose

piece. All main cage roll bar material must be a minimum of 1 1/2”

.090” wall steel tubing or black iron pipe with a minimum of 1 ¼” ID

schedule 40. No galvanized pipe. Maximum, pipe diameter 2”. No

thread pipe fittings allowed. All roll bar structure exposed to the driver

must be padded with approved padding. Roll bar construction and

installation is subject to inspection and approval. MVR highly

suggests 1/8” plates on left side door bars.

ENGINE:  Stock OEM block, Chevy to Chevy, Ford to Ford, ect.  Any cast iron head.  NO roller cams or lifters.  Any rocker arm.  360 cubic inch max.  Any intake manifold.  Any pistons.  Any crank.  Steel rods only.  Porting OK. No drysumps.  Engine can be no further back than number one spark plug hole aligned with the center of the upper balljoint.  Engine must be centered in frame.

CARBURATOR:  Must use one 2 barrel 500cfm Holley list number 4412.  May not be modified except for jets, powervalve, removal of choke plate and linkage.  NO other carb will be allowed!  Must pass tech gauges.  Must have two throttle return springs.  One inch tall maximum spacer or adapter plate allowed.

FUEL SYSTEM:  Fuel cell mandatory.  Must be securely mounted to roll cage.  Fuel cap must be connected to cell with wire or cable.  Minimum 2 straps top and bottom, subject to tech approval.  No electric fuel pumps.  Fuel Cell vent must have roll over valve.  Any fuel line run thru drivers compartment must be inside steel tubing.  Any gasoline OK, NO additives,  NO alcohol.

EXHAUST:  Any exhaust, must exit BEHIND driver.  Cannot run thru drivers compartment.

ELECTRICAL:  Must have working starter.  Must have master kill switch clearly marked within drivers reach.  Any battery powered ignition system allowed.   NO magneto’s.  Battery cannot be mounted behind rear axle.  Wet batteries mounted inside drivers compartment must be inside a steel, leak proof box.  NO traction control.  No timing control devices.

TRANSMISSION:  All transmissions must have two forward and one reverse gear.  Automatic transmissions do not need to run a converter.  Any clutch may be used but car must be able to come to a complete stop and take off without shutting of the engine.  Any transmission that uses a clutch that is bolted directly to the crankshaft must use a 360 degree explosion proof scatter shield.

REAR END:  Any rear end may be used except quick changes.  Floaters allowed.  Full spool, mini spool or welded only.  NO lockers, ratcheting, gold tracs, traction control, etc.  Gears open.  No aluminum parts allowed.    Drive shafts must be painted white.  Drive shafts must have two safety straps or chains. 

WEIGHT:  Minimum weight before penalties, 2900 pounds with driver at any time with maximum 57 percent left side.

          Penalties (1) front weight jacks                            50 pounds+1 percent left

                        (2) rear weight jacks                     50 pounds+1 percent left

                        (3) front heim/tie rod shocks                 75 pounds+1 percent left

                        (4) rear heim/tie rod shocks                   75 pounds+1 percent left

So…..A car with four racing shocks and front and rear weight jacks (operational or not) must weigh 3150 pounds with maximum 53 percent left side.  All ballast must be painted white and have your car number.  Any ballast falls on the track and you get docked two points for every pound plus a fine of $10.00 per pound so mount accordingly.

WHEELS AND TIRES:  Wheels must be steel.  Eight inches wide.  Beadlocks allowed on right rear only.  Offsets open.  Hoosier IMCA G-60 is the track tire and the ONLY tire allowed.  No grooving.  Grinding and siping allowed.

SAFETY:  All cars must have a window net.  Five point safety harness with quick release mandatory with three inch shoulder belts, three inch lap belts and a two inch anti-submarine belt.  Belts must be attached to cage and must be within three years from date of manufacture.  Racing seat mandatory, no plastic or fiberglass.  Seat must be mounted to cage.  Every car must have a minimum two pound fire extinguisher within drivers reach.  Every pit must have an additional fire extinguisher.  Must have fire suit and gloves.  Snell 95 or M2000 approved helmet required.  No open face helmets.  Helmet must have shield.

MISCELLANEOUS:  There is NO grace race for safety infractions.  Tech has final interpretation on all rules.  No mirrors, No radios, No whiners!!!!
